Peaceful Paths of Wisdom

January 15, 2012

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
and the one who gets understanding,
for the gain from her is better than gain from silver
and her profit better than gold.
She is more precious than jewels,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;
those who hold her fast are called blessed.
{Proverbs 3:13-18 ESV}

Greater Things are Coming

January 14, 2012

I’ve gone to different churches that go to different extremes. One church served and served and served. Constantly out in the community. But Christ was not on their lips. There was another church that was their own community. Rarly ever leaving the confines of their walls to reach those who were hurting right outside.

Let’s be real. We need re-taught how to show compassion. We are calloused by the laws we’ve created within our churches. Within our own hearts. Too many meetings and conferences and not enough engagement. We need to stop saying “we’re going to” and just get out and do it! Take care of the poor. Take care of the widows. Take care of the orphans. Love those around us – everyone! It’s so easy to only interact with those we are comfortable with. But it’s truly amazing when you push aside your comfort zone and allow God to introduce you to some of his children that you, other wise, never would have even smiled at.

And now there’s the Greater Things are Coming conference. A conference for church leaders to not only teach compassion but also help equip their churches to live out what the Bible teaches.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do…”
{John 14:12 ESV}

Encourage your church leaders to attend the Greater Things are Coming conference and be prepared to see lives change within your church and, more importantly, outside of the church. Take a risk and reach out to those in need. Give all the glory to Him who allows us the opportunity to serve for Him. He knows there are people hurting and in need. So what are you going to do about it? Continue to wait on God? Or do you not see that God is right there waiting to work through you to bring more to His kingdom? You are His workmanship. Allow the Father to use what He has created to glorify Him.

Are you curious of the speakers who will be there? Check out the list over at Greater Things are Coming. This weekend, one of the speakers, Christine Caine, will be speaking at the Code Orange Revival. I heard her for the first time at Passion 2012. And oh. my. goodness. This girl is on fire for the Lord! She knows His heart is His children and does all that she humanely can to protect them. I am expecting the Lord to speak mightily through her this weekend. It will be live streamed on Elevation Network at 5pm EST and Sunday at 9:30am and 11:15am EST. Enjoy and be encouraged to go out and serve to glorify God!

Code Orange Revival

January 13, 2012

Have plans tonight? No? Heck, even if you do cancel them! Tonight Matt Chandler is going to be at Elevation Church for the Code Orange Revival!

I am beyond stoked! However, we drove past last night and saw they are insanely booked. So my dear husband and I will be joining thousands of others and watching via the live stream. And how awesome that they offer that!

This is for 12 days. It actually began this past Wednesday with Craig Groeschel. And this weekend Christine Caine will be speaking. Check out all the speakers and tune in. It looks like it’s going to be an amazing time!

This is a quick and simple snack you can enjoy during the Daniel Fast. Not much more to say other than apple, real nut butter {peanut butter, almond butter, etc} and raisins. Easy peasy!

This fast has been very eye opening and I’m looking forward to writing a post at the end. I definitely encourage you to start if you’re thinking about doing one.

Hidden Poetry

January 11, 2012

This past weekend we decided that with the good weather it was finally time to buckle down and clean out the garage. Not a highly anticipated event and quite a damper on such a beautiful day. But alas, it had to be done. During the purging process a letter was found. A diamond in the rough. We still are unsure of who wrote it. It was one of two children. Whosever it was I plan on keeping this little piece of poetry in my keepsake box.

My little Psalm writers.

Where did they get hearts like this? How is it they teach me so much more than I can ever imagine teaching them? They teach me through their actions. They don’t sit down with a book and instruct me. They live what they believe. The sweet aroma of pure faith.

Have you been in His word recently? Or like this beautiful letter has God’s letters been hidden among the ‘stuff’ in the house. Risking being thrown away? Search for Him. Search the scriptures. Find His letters to you and tuck them away within your heart.

Blessings!
