My oldest daughter, Emily, has entered sixth grade this year and will be taking a class on video production. Dang I love homeschooling!

When we were dating my husband would tell me all about his video production class in high school and he’d show me videos upon videos that he had been a part of. Maybe, if y’all are extra nice to me I’ll share some of those 😉

I knew we would want video making to be a big part of our family. Since our dating days I would film all of his football games that he coached. Next he would take all the footage and make an end of the year video for all of his players. I’ve been an enthusiastic photographer since 2005, having won contests and have been published in two books. Then with smart phones we’ve been able to film a lot, but it just wasn’t the same. I’m thankful for the short little clips but I miss the long videos. I do not, however, miss the vhs tapes. At all. And my camera has gotten A LOT heavier since the beginning.

The beginning of the school year turns every office supply store into a candy store. The stationary, planners, markers, pens, etc. It’s amazing!!! Gone are the days of Lisa Frank and now it’s time for something new. Introducing the Filofax.

Out of the Valley

August 11, 2014

We sometimes have deep struggles in life. They seem like they can go on for days, months and sometimes years. Here we are always serving others and no one is there to serve us. Not that we would tell anybody that we’re in need, of course.

And sometimes all it takes is a little change in perspective to see our blessings and our purpose.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:9-10 ESV) Continue Reading…

When Life is a Mess

August 4, 2014

Sometimes life is just down right dirty.

and as Ferris Bueller would say

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Learn with me as I begin the processing of unlearning how to try so hard. Sometimes life is messy. And sometimes messy is fun!

Heart Decor

December 15, 2013

I like pretty things. I love spending time on pinterest just looking and pinning and dreaming. I have over 3300 pins. All pinned with a hope of crafting or purchasing. Here’s the problem, I hate spending money. Like haaaaate. I will stand in front of the dollar section of Target and have a mental battle to justify a single dollar purchase. Don’t even get me started on clothes. I’m so thankful that my sister loves clothes and graciously passes her hand me downs to me. That and my husband will occasionally force me to look through the clothing sections.

But what I love the most is décor. And I can never justify buying something that I alone think is pretty that is intended for everybody in the house to enjoy. Either I’ll think of something else we could use that money for, like groceries, or I assume my husband will wonder why I’m spending hard earned money on trinkets.

Wanna know what he asked me a couple weeks ago?

“Why don’t you ever decorate the house?”

Can you say bad communication? I just sat back and assumed and here he is wondering what’s wrong with me. Here’s why all that came about…
