The Silent Giving Challenge - Eucharisteo.com

Y’all, I love you, you know that. I have a huge heart for those who are suffering. And I know you do, too. But this ice bucket challenge has really rubbed me the wrong way.

First and foremost is the giving of God’s money to the work on murdered children. They are admittedly using stem cells from aborted fetuses to further find a cure for ALS. We can not allow our hearts to be ok with the murder of another as long as somebody benefits from it. That’s wrong. That’s evil.

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32 ESV)

Ok, onto the one thing that has been running through my head every single time I see a follower of Christ posting a video of themselves being doused in ice water. I believe peoples hearts are mainly in the right place. However, I don’t think they’ve done their research and I don’t think they remember this verse.

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:1-4 ESV)

If you want to give to a charity then do so after doing your research. If you want to raise awareness then do so without putting yourself on a pedestal. I won’t even go into the modesty issue on this one. That’s a whole nother post.

From a marketing perspective it was ingenious. Why? Because we’re a generation of narcissists. Think of all the creative marketing Susan G Komen has done {another pro abortion foundation}. Actually, if you’re a man don’t think about that. If you remember, I called this the Madonna syndrome. If people can push the envelope to make themselves look risqué they’ll do it. And it’ll work.

My loves, IF you’re a follower of Christ I encourage you to look into who you’re donating to. This is only the beginning. Because of the popularity I guarantee there will be floods of other organizations doing this. Remember that there are still children being murdered by the thousands in American every day. There are human beings being beheaded in Iraq today. People are suffering everywhere. Find a cure for ALS, yes. Stop abortion, yes. Put an end to ISIS, yes. But the best advice I can give you is to get into His word. Facebook has nothing to offer you. With each step give thanks to Yahweh and ask Him to lead you.

As I said, I love you guys and if I didn’t I wouldn’t be saying this. Being rebuked is hard and some of y’all will really hate me saying this. But His truth is hard to take. There is only one Living Water that we need to be pouring over ourselves every moment of every day.

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14 ESV)

Blessings!
